My 5year old goes to the half day, and loves the teachers and school in general. I'm also very pleased with the program, but a little taken back by the partiality by the teachers, especially one of them who treats the parents like children. When you ask her a question, she will always have her eyebrows lifted and answers with an attitude and almost makes you feel stupid. Parents should be ecourgaed to ask questions and inquire about thier kids behavior and over all experience at school, but instead I feel like they don't like the involvement. They are goody goody with particular Moms that they already know because of older sibling who also attended their class, and sometimes will completely ignore the other parents. I hope they take some of these review and can change some of the negative things, because overall the program is GREAT, and the kids seem to be very happy with the teachers!
My first son went to the Hoffman Estates Park District Preschool in 2008 (now he's in 3rd grade) and my second started in 2009 (now he's in Kindergarten). As an early childhood educator I was looking for a quality preschool that was licensed and Accredited by NAEYC (see NAEYC.org for info.) I also wanted experienced teachers with longevity at the site. I was pleased to find that the teachers had 6-35 years being at the Park District. Their knowledge and nurturing ways were perfect. The Program Manager was personable and always got back to me with any questions I had. Both my sons were exposed to wonderful science, math and language activities which helped prepare them for kindergarten. Not only did they learn their ABC's and 123's but the social/emotional skills as well. They are both well adjusted and confident learners because of their experiences at the Park District. I'm very pleased!! Thanks for reading.
The director does not have any sort of respect for the parents. She does not smile nor greet the parents. She may have incorporated different programs in to the park district but she is not the warm and nice person. A few teachers are good but one of the teachers in the 4 yr old program for 4 days, simply yells at the kids and ignores a few parents ( shows a lot of partiality). I wish I knew about her before enrolling my little one who says would never go back to her.
My son started in the full day preschool when he just turned three. It was a great experience for him. Then he moved to the regular 4 day a week program. He will be entering Kindergarten this fall and I feel he is completely ready ..and maybe even ahead due to the great education he received from this preschool program.
