I have had my kids in the school for over 5 years (one has since graduated). The parents and the children help to make the school what it is. My daughter is sad on the weekends, she wants to be with her friends :). There have been changes over the years, and some issues with both staffing and other administrative things but there are good changes happening now for the better. And at the end of the day my children have been happy and cared for. And that is one of the things that matters most to me. Also, they go outside TONS and have a great yard to run around in.
I have a child in this school and we just recently created a parent advisory board that is making a big difference. The staff has been very appreciative and responsive to parent requests and suggestions. The staff who work with my child are incredibly dedicated and she is thriving as a result. This is not just daycare- it is a school inspired childrent to learn. It is affordable and a great value for the money.
I left the Forest Park Montessori School after 2 years of working there. I left because I did not agree with the way that the school was ran. The teachers at the school were not always fair to the children and often picked favorites, some of the children were even excluded from certain activities. When I would bring this to the directors attention she would do nothing about it. Schools/Daycare centers are supposed to have annual fire and tornado drills and those were not always practiced either. When working at a school or daycare background checks and fingerprints need to be on file before that person is allowed to be around the children, I myself did not submit my fingerprints until two months after I had already worked there, I was hired on the spot because the school was under staffed. The school also had an issue with ants and mice in the school. DCFS was at the school for a few different calls that were place, when the director found out that someone was coming to investigate she would make sure that all tracks were covered and anything that she could be written up for was hidden.
