I diligently completed my research before selecting a daycare/preschool for my daughter; and Little Hands Learning Center Academy has met my high expectations. I was very nervous having someone else care for our daughter, but the open door policy for parents and the professionalism of the staff eased my nervousness. LHLC is like extended family and a great support for my family. I feel blessed to have to be apart of the LHLC family. LHLC is a solid, reputable, state-of-the art preschool facility located in Beverly (Chicago). Their programs include an advanced/accelerated curriculum, with foreign language (Spanish & French)...LHLCA creates an environment that increases academic, social and emotional success for our children. I highly recommend them!
The administration is wonderful and caring and the teachers are great. the atmosphere is very friendly and you can tell they really love what they do and it shows. The admin are very selective with their staff and they are very good at communicating with parents. They provide daily feedback, twitter and facebook Updates, emails, friendly newletters with lots of pictures so you can see what your child does. They have music, dance, foreign language and accelerated academics which is phenomenal. I was referred and I refer other parents all the time. I also refered a teacher their who was hired two year ago and is still there also. She enjoys the vision of the Directors and is also glad she made the move. LHLC rocks and we are glad we are part of the LHLC family!
My son began attending LHLC 1 month after turning 2 and recently graduated from the Preschool progam. Before starting he was cared for by a family member who he was very close with and attached to. As an only child my husband and I recognized the need for his socialization with other children and began looking for programs. Although we liked what we learned about the program duing our tour before starting, as a Mom I was still concerned with others caring for my little guy. However, On his first day he was scooped up in the arms of the Cuddle Bugs room teacher who was wonderful & caring. She quickly became all he talked about at home. This became true of other teachers along the way. Over the years, I have watched his independance and confidence grow and the pride he showed when he told me about his day and what he was learning. I love that my son gained a wonderful education, a since of community and the knowledge that he special. LHLC is a wonderful place for children and families. Thank you LHLC team for making such great memories, fostering brilliance in our son and making a difference.
Ms. Shay, Ms. Griffin & Ms Brent are phenomenal!!! I happen to know the person below that posted a bad review and quite honestly she was an extremely difficult parent. LHLC is known for their patience and the Little Hands staff are very caring, warm and nurturing to the children. The Directors and teachers were so kind since our first day. They gave my child stickers, a huge hug and welcomed her like she was a part of their family. They look out for all the children and I still don't know how they manage to remember everyone's names. They are all in the right field because you can feel the love in the school and the academics are far superior to any other program that we looked at. I am glad we found this school & my daughter enjoys going every day. She cries sometimes when I pick her up since she has so much fun. They give you daily update sheets & place wonderful projects & activities in their bin that the children did throughout the day. I am glad my friend recommended the program to me and I highly recommend this school to other parents. They have many professional parents which are on the same page w/ education & want an environment which gives the children a balance.
LHLC is a great school. My son went there since he was three and my daughter went there since she was 2 and both got into selected enrollment schools. The tuition is slightly higher than other programs but you get so much more. They have dance for the children, fine arts, a curriculum that goes two grade levels above, foreign languages, smartboards and an extremely professional staff. They also have a positive energy that radiates through the school. At first I thought it would be temporary when I signed up, but they maintained this wonderful energy every single day. this is just who they are. Definitely register your child here if you can get a slot. They are usually full becuase so many people know about their great reputation. I am so glad I found out about Little Hands and I can't wait until the all school family picnic in a couple of weeks. One of the many special events that the school does to make you have a wonderful experience. Last year they had pony rides, jumpers and other entertained. We really loved this school!
Beware of this school and realize that Ms.Griffin, Ms. Shay and the others who own and manage the school are primarily concerned with these: profit, image and ease. First, along with a pricey tuition, LLLC will demand a $600 dollar donation. Other expenses will pop up from time to time that serve no real purpose except for LLLC administrators to enrich themselves. Second, LLLC is highly concerned with their image. They try to make it seem that the school is more rigorous than others. The staff does most of the art projects assigned to the students and claims you child did it. At the Shed Aquarium, the exhibits were so high, the children could not see the fish. Third, LLLC attempts to defer work from themselves to you. LLLC demanded that field trips have 100% coverage. That means every other week, I would have to take off a work day to attend a field trip with my child or find a sitter. The purpose of day care is to watch my child while I am at work! What is the staff doing? In sum, Griffin will claim to "love" your child, but in reality, she only loves your check. (It better be a check because there is a 15% charge if you use a credit card!)
As a grandmother of two graduates from LHLC, I can attest that the advanced curriculum at this nurturing school is second to none. The directors and staff are dedicated and provide an atmosphere that is intellectually stimulating and challenging. Individual needs are addressed while providing a bridge that integrates all educational components needed to succeed. The teachers are tuned in to the many ways children learn such as visual, tactile, auditory, linguistic, logical-mathematical, kinesthetic and musical. The learning tasks are provided in many formats that include both gross motor and fine motor skills. The children are encouraged to communicate their ideas, be creative, reason and solve problems. Both interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences are encouraged in a loving professional environment. Fluid reasoning is encouraged as the children express themselves while developing inductive and deductive reasoning skills when engaged in science experiments. As a retired gifted primary teacher in the Chicago Public Schools, I wish that my students in the 70's, 80's and 90's had the opportunity to begin their learning experiences at LHLC. This is the best preschool in Chicago! They have a phenomenal team of teachers that all welcome the children and make sure that the parents feels at home and valued. My child attended the 101st location and the South shore Campus and loved Ms Bobbie, Ms Angelica ,Ms Sandra, and the Directors Ms Michelle and Ms Cathy. They have a advanced currciulum that teaches the children two levels above and give the children great exposure to all kinds of special events, activities, dance, foreign language and additional components as well. Three of my girlfriends referred me and the principal of my older's child's school told me great things about the school before enrolling & I am so glad they did! I love Little Hands. The parent's testimonials on their website truly reflect the kind of school they are and why the parents our so in love with the program. Everyone buzzes about Little Hands and when you attend the school you'll see why. No one else does what they do...Father Fall Feast, tea parties for the moms, fields trips...end of year production... You can't go wrong with LHLC! It's cheaper than schools downtown and you get 10x more!!!. I'm glad my children attended.
I believe that the teacher really care about aour children ad have a pretty good curriculum in place. However, you do get that nickled and dimed feeling quite often. When my four year old started attending there, we received the school supply list which I can't even share or I wouldn't be able to finish my review! There a two mandatory fundraisers that, in my opinion, are not geared toward parents actually raising the money. The school doesn't seem to care because they will just add any balance to your account. In addition, most of their field trips are mandatory chaperone which reduces the trip to you taking your child on an outing for the day. This forces parents to take off work because if your child doesn't go, they can't come to school anyway. The straw for me was when I recevied the graduation information that stated there was a $45 fee and also tickets must be purchased for $20 in order to attend. I have NEVER heard of purchasing tickets to a graduation on any academic level. Needless to say my younger child will NOT be attending.
