My son has been in this montessori for approx 2 yrs now...There are many good things about this school but one highlighting factor which is usually challenging for first time parents is potty training. My son was so well trained at this school that we hardly ever felt it as a challenge. I'm bringing this point because for a 30 mnth old this is a big learning curve. Other great factors are: 1. Teachers are absolutely honest and give their time to give feedback 2. Lot of activities for the kids. They teach about solar system, solving, puzzles, several activities for nurturing hand eye coordination, speech development, food habits, sharing attitude, mannerisms etc 3. Every teacher is caring not just the teacher who is taking care of your child My second one is definitely going to go to BMS..keep up the excellent work!! Kailash
What an amazing school. I think that the people that posted from June are talking about the other Montessori in Buffalo Grove. I have had 3 children in the school. None of my children have ever been made to feel unwanted or chastised. My toddler gets soaked almost every day in the waterworks. They don't worry about his clothes AT ALL. If any water gets on the floor they show the children where the paper towels are to help clean up, but the teachers model the clean up with them. It is never a punishment. Whenever there is a spill at home, he gets mad if I don't let him help me clean up. This school is amazing, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
The best choice we could have made. We moved our children to BGMS two years ago and since then we couldn't be happier. This school is more than a daycare, the staff at this school make our children feel like family. The amout of care and attention that they give every child is simply amazing. My oldest is now in the Kintergarten program and has experianced leaps and bounds in his reading and his self confidence has soared. My youngest is struggling with his language skills and can be difficult to understand at times, but all the teachers patiently listen to him and help him express himself. He NEVER feels bad or ignored because he speech isn't clear. We are incredibly thankful to all the teachers and staff for taking such fantastic care of our children.
I have no regrets about this school except that we did not find it sooner. My oldest, now 7 started at 3, and my other two sons have gone there since infancy. My youngest just went to the toddler room after graduating from the infants room. The staff is so wonderful and supportive, they still ask about my 7 year old who now goes to public school. I recommend this school to anyone. It is a very accepting atmosphere of all races, cultures, and creeds. Thank you so much BGMS!
I am so grateful for BGMS. I have had 3 boys go through, all with their own issues. My oldest learned how to socialize and be empathic, my middle son is no longer neurotic about cleanliness, and my infant, though late in talking, is an excellent communicator. They are willing to use sign language to help him express himself and are very patient. If you want well behaved and well adjusted children; send them to this amazing school!
The poor review from June doesn't make sense. My toddler is in that room and he started in the infant room. He comes home soaking wet all the time and the teachers just tell me he can't get enough of the water works. I also pop in and watch from the windows. The teachers are loving and extremely patient. I also have a 4 year old in this school who is very difficult. he started at 3 years old and the staff has realy helped him develop. I already posted but this had to be said. Could this person be talking about the other Montessori in Buffalo Grove?
Eight years ago we visited BGMS to see if it was the ideal place for our first child. At the school we saw children who were smiling and engaged in various activities. They were happy to be here. This was the RIGHT PLACE for us too. Together with BGMS, we have watched, taught and nurtured our two daughters from the Infant room through Kindergarten Graduation and now through their camp program. Together we have seen them nap, learn to feed themselves with utensils, learn the alphabet and numbers, climb across monkey bars, explore gardens, learn about the planets, appreciate their classmates, learn to ride a bike and smile as they were able be a child! As working parents, BGMS lessens the Guilt Factor we often feel - how can you feel guilty when your child arrives home at age 4, eager to read YOU a bedtime story. Both my daughters have a DEEP LOVE of reading! Or when your child is so excited to be at school, she continually asks if tomorrow is a "School Day". As the parents, these are the joys the school brings home as we enjoy reading, talking about planets, swimming and biking together as a family - I can t thank BGMS enough for loving, inspiring and nurturing my girls!
I cannot say enough positive things about Buffalo Grove Montessori School! My daughter began attending this school when she had just turned 4, and has been growing in leaps and bounds ever since. The multi-age classrooms are wonderful for children to have opportunities to work cooperatively with their peers, as well as have leadership experiences in a nurturing environment. The kindergarten program is outstanding, and my child is more than ready to begin attending the public school as a first grader in the Fall, academically, socially and emotionally. The staff members were always enthusiastic and supportive in their interactions with my child and myself, and provided an excellent education and overall learning experience. My daughter graduated from Buffalo Grove Montessori with many wonderful friendships. As a parent, I have also gained an outstanding network of parents/friends to share the journey as our children continue to grow. Thank you BGMS! We have had an outstanding experience at your school!!
Buffalo Grove Montessori School has been the best foundation for all 6 of the children we have sent there. Most of them started in the infant program and went through graduating from the kindergarten program. The academic experience is exceptional with all of my children reading at a very advanced level as well as excelling in math. However, it is the family closeness and personal time the teachers spend getting to know and love each child as an individual that i appreciated as a parent. I feel very safe and comfortable leaving my child each day knowing that they are with people who truly care for them.
My daughter attended the infant program. We pulled her after a series of very dissapointing events. Among the more disspointing parts of our experience was that this school in no way embodies the spirit of Montessori. I watched one toddler (15mo) put in time out for taking off her clothes. I watched again as one toddler was constantly yelled at for getting wet! in the water works! My daughter could be consistently found in a baby trap jumper and as such really lagged in physical development until we moved her (and then within month crawling, pulling up to stand, from tummy to sitting). I would definitely give major warning to any breastfeeding mother - very unsupportive practices. As an example my daughter was getting only 6oz of breastmilk a day by 7mo as the center left her to feed herself (!) and then concluded she was weaning! I was told "she does not like the taste of your breastmilk." After this terrible treatment no apologies offered. Despite the reviews of my breastmilk (gasp!) my daughter happily continues to nurse no thanks to this school taking now her usual 12-15 oz a day. Run don't walk. I've just scratched the surface here. This place is a nightmare.
