My son has been attending Discovery since he was 6 mos old. Discovery came highly recommended by many of my co-workers as well as by my husband's friends, whom all had their children attend 7 years ago. We have been nothing but overwhelmed by not only the kindness of the teachers, but by the involvement of Discovery's director in our son's progress. He has excelled tremendously in both his social skills as well as his developmental skills. When my son suffered a sudden seizure at the school, the entire staff reacted quickly and competently to make sure he had the best care possible. I rest assured everyday knowing my son is taken care of emotionally, physically and intellectually at Discovery.

My husband and I withdrew our daughter from Discovery Christian last month and we should have done it sooner. She attended for 3 months for preschool 3 days a week. We were so disappointed that this was the first preschool we put our child in. Over the 3 months we never once received an update on her progress. We had no idea whether she had friends, or followed direction, or needed extra help learning anything. She brought home projects once or twice a week so we knew she was doing SOMETHING but beyond that we couldn't seem to get information from anyone. Her teacher didn't seem friendly to us or our child and the final straw was our child crying before school because she dreaded it so much and said her teacher was mean over and over. There are far too many preschools out there to waste your time on this one.

Our grand daughter has been attending this school for 3 years. Last night's Christmas program was amazing! The way their director connects with these children on a personal and spiritual level is wonderful. We are so pleased with the education and social growth she has received from Discovery. It is a wonderful day care/school for our needs.

Our third child started attending Discovery this year and we are so excited! Our first two children benefited greatly from this wonderful school. They attended Discovery for Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten and were very prepared for first grade. In fact, they were both placed into the Gifted and Talented Program at their elementary school and have been honor students every year after. The staff does an excellent job of teaching and modeling Christian beliefs and behaviors at all time. I would recommend this school to anyone.

We were so disappointed with the treatment we received from the director at Discovery Christian Dayschool. When we toured the school we were only interested in pre-school, not daycare, she mislead us to believe they did offer a pre-school class, including a "big transition" between preschool and lunchtime for the "few children" who stayed for extended care. It turned out to be that only 3 kids out of 12 in the class got there at 9am for pre-school--two of those kids were mine-and went home at 11:30 after "pre-school". This was just in their class--as far as I could tell of the 50+ daycare kids, only 6 or 7 were enrolled in strictly pre-school. In addition, a few times I caught the director, in my opinion, talking down to or belittling the staff and children, and she always scared my kids--they just got a very uneasy feeling from her. This led to us deciding to withdraw our kids from the program. Our BIGGEST mistake? We withdrew on the first day of the month, having paid a full month's tuition. The director kept 70% of our money, citing "policy". It makes me sad to think that a "Christian" organization would keep hundreds of dollars from a family for services they did not provide.

After my daughter went to pre-school in Spokane for two years (a 3year class and a 4year class), I was extremely disappointed with the curriculum at Discovery Christian Dayschool. It was supposed to be Pre-kindergarten, but I feel as though she lost the academic strides that she made last year. At our old school they came home every day with writing practice paperwork, art projects, cutting shapes, coloring, mini home-made books, fun science experiement reports, etc. In four weeks before I withdrew her from Discovery, not one time did she come home with a sample of writing or letter practice. There were a few very primitive, in my opinion, for pre-k, art projects. I do not put a lot of pressure on her to perform academically, we have always made learning fun. However, in terms of being prepared to go to kindergarten, if she would have stayed there, in my opinion she would have been way behind. This is definitely NOT a pre-school. It is a daycare. There is a huge difference.

Since my wife and I worked opposite schedules, our son was always home with one of us for the first 4 years of his life. When my wife took a different job, we had to fine a child care center for him. His first day care center struck out big time. We were so disappointed. Then we found Discovery. WOW! What a difference. The staff has been loving, caring, and very supportive. In just the last couple months my son has learned so much, and is even memorizing scripture. This organization isn't just Christian in name. These people love Jesus and teach our children about Him and his love for us. He knows more academically than other kids his age who don't attend Discovery I recommend Discovery Christian Day School to all my friends, and will keep our son there as long as they'll let me. We couldn't be happier.

I have one child that has gone to Discovery through kindergarten and another that will be continuing on for Kindergarten next year. I feel blessed to have found Discovery Christian. My child who went to kindergarten at Discovery was moved within a couple months of 1st grade to the highest reading level. I believe Discovery did a great job preparing him for 1st grade. My pre-kindergartener has excelled and is now spelling some words.

My son has been attending this school for 2 1/2 years, he has excelled in reading, writing and even math. Next year he will be attending Kindergarten there as well. Everyday, I am AMAZED by the things he says and does (in reguards to education) I personally pay alot of attention to my sons learning and there no way I "wouldnt notice" him faling behind, and be surprised when he got to 1st grade. He is way ahead of where he should be for just preschool. This is in NO WAY just a day care. The children are in a very calm learning enviorment. NOT the "run a muk day care setting" They are learning all day and are cared for and loved by all of the staff.

After my kid started first grade and we attended the first open house, it wasn't until then that we learned how far behind our kid was going into the first grade. Discovery kept telling us our kid was doing great and was way ahead for kindergarten. Anyways to come to find out other partents that had kid at Discovery were behind last year when their kids started 1st grade at public schools. I would rate Discovery as a day care more than a teaching school base on lastnights 1st grade open house.
