The previous comment is totally wrong and misleading to viewers. I have been associated with Dover Montessori for 3 years as a parent. Ms. Peg has run a quality program for many years and she manages to offer a great summer camp with lots of fun activities such as swimming and gymnastics! In this economy many privite schools are striving to stay in businesss. "Hat's Off" to Ms. Peg and her staff for doing such a great job!! My son just loves Dover Montessori! He is currently enrolled in the summer camp and enjoys going to the different activities everyday. Check the school out for yourself! You will be glad you did!
1. Lot of TV - lots of Strain for lil eyes. 2. Teachers are unwelcoming in the morning except Ms Regina. There's a boy to welcome you when you open the door. 3. Anybody can get into the school, door is not secured, no security camera at all. 4. The air inside the school is too hot, Air-conditioning is not proper. 5. The school van is not safe. Check the tires. 6. Where is Ms Peg? She'll be in at 10:30. - A concerned Parent.
I commend and highly recommend the Dover Montessori for its well-rounded approach to basic education. It's academic ciriculum and social interactions could very well be a model for Delaware's public school system. My two children never cease to amaze me as they come home and show me what they have learned all day long. Lastly I give credit to all the staff for its patience and commitment to our children."
Our sons have been at Dover Montessori for 2 years. They love going to school and enjoy learning in this safe and friendly environtment. My 4 year old loves his homework: writing and sounding out letters and words.
Our 4 year old started at Montessori when she was 22 months old. The experience has been very nurturing and beneficial for her. She is learning how to read, write and have fun at school at the same time. She loves going to school and has developed a lot of social skills. It has been wonderful being a member of the Montessori family, the teachers are very responsive to my child's needs and challenge her in appropriate ways. My other child will go to Montessori next year. I recommend the montessori system for a lot of my friends and family members.
"My older son attended Dover Montessori last year and really enjoyed the school. The experience really prepared him well for Kindergarten and he still talks about his teacher and friends at Dover Montessori. My younger son attends the school this year and really likes it; he is doing great and learning a lot. The staff is caring and very involved with the kids they just need a new, larger facility."
I have very mixed feelings about this school. My 3 year old son has learned a substantial amount of information and has gained confidence in himself as well as becoming more independent. For that I commend them. His teacher, Mrs. Regina, is very caring and welcoming in the morning. My issue is with Ms. Peg. I have to agree with the other negative reviews in that she is rarely there and the TV is on more frequently than it should be for a montessori school. Her "errands" take precidence over the children and she does not take parent requests seriously. She does what she wants, not what the parent wants and makes excuses for it.

We enrolled our son midway through the school year right after his 3rd birthday. He's already counting to 10 in Spanish and using Spanish words in the correct context. He talks about things such as computer programs, European countries, and good manners. We are impressed with the level of care and education he receives at Dover Montessori. We would definitely recommend this school over ANY other preschool in southern Delaware. Amanda Lennon (IT Manager at Del-One)
