The Wilton Montessori School has been wonderful for both of my children. They loved attending the school and my last child just recently left the school for first grade. I personally volunteered at the school many times and was always impressed with the learning that was going on in the classroom as well as the respect for others that ocurred in that school. I wish that our public schools could be as nice and friendly. The Montessori principals have enabled my children to accel at both math and reading in public schools. My friends and neighbors are always impressed with my children's behavior and knowledge. Whenever anyone asks me for a recommendation I always suggest Wilton Montessori. Kimberly Olson
In June 2008, our daughter will finish her third year at Wilton Montessori and we consider her time there our best decision of any we made in the entire move to this area. Many parents in Fairfield County believe themselves to be education experts (even those who were dismal students themselves) and will try to be 'involved' in their children's education. This is not a school they will be happy with, as the teacher here believes in her time-proven methods without parental 'suggestions'. Parents are fully informed and are given ample time to observe classroom time. There is no arguing with results, as my daughter will graduate kindergarten fully reading, writing, adding, subtracting, and knowing more geography than most adults (continents, oceans, >100 countries on map). Former students have finished in the top of the high school classes of highly competitive public and private schools. This school is a true find.
This is an absolutely amazing school! We've put two children through it and they've both thrived here. They enjoy going every day, miss it when they aren't there and are learning more than we could have ever imagined. I would recommend this school for any and every child. Kids love it and so do 99.9% of parents. Our oldest child is now in 2nd grade, is a joy for her teachers and is in advanced reading and math classes thanks to this school.
The director and principal educator of Wilton Montessori brings to her children a wealth of knowledge, over 30 years of experience, love for the child and a 100% understanding of the child's psyche. The child comes first in this school and it is out of respect for the ability of the child that the teacher encourages independence at the very beginning. If anyone has any knowledge of the Montessori method, they will see that the teacher cultivates a warm nurturing environment for the child to achieve his/her best at their own pace but at an unimaginable capacity. There is nothing militaristic about the teacher or the school,It is one of the best montessori schools in the country and we are so blessed as a family to have this lady teach our children and be in our lives.b
My daughter has attended this school for over two years now. She has really blossomed at this school. She is writing, on the verge of reading independently, and is doing advanced math. The teacher is excellent and provides over 30 years of teaching experience. My daughter loves this school and can't wait to go each morning. The teacher instills upon the children confidence and a love of learning. The teacher is very approachable and offers helpful advice. My husband and I will miss this school next year as this is our daughter's last year. Being new to CT, this school and especially our daughter's teacher have been very comforting to us. We have the upmost respect and trust for this teacher. She is truly amazing and cares so much about the children's learning.
My daughter loves this school. It is a great school. Teacher works really hard to teach children. The teacher will give you a real picture of what is going right and where we need to concentrate to make our child learn more. I feel it is tough job and she handles it perfectly
I have my daughter attending this school and she loves it. I could see a lot of difference in her is a very short time. The teacher enforces independence right down to small everyday things. The teacher evaluates the child very well and focuses on the areas which are weak and gets the child to have self confidence. The curriculum too is very advanced and a broad areas of topics are covered.I would recommend this school to all parents.
I am confused at some of the reviews on this site. I have had 2 children in this schooland have nothing but positives to speak of .Some individuals do not understand the Montesoori method and hence use the word 'military'. I have spent countless hours volunteering at this school never have i seen anything but kindness and encouragement on the teachers part. She is a premier educator with a 35 year glowing history in education. The chilren are taught to take pride in what they achieve. parents who are truly in tune with their children are encouraged by teh teacher to be involved 100% The classroom is prsitine clean ,the kids are happy to go to school and love the teacher. wish i could keep them there till they were 18!If at all the teachers downfall is that she is over zealous for the safety of the kids. She comforts them when it is needed.
I had 3 children who went to Wilton Montesoori. The principal is extremely loving and encouraging of children. My kids were very happy there. They came out reading writing and doing 2nd grade math. But most of all confident and well rounded .The school is lovely very safe and extremely clean, hard to believe but there was never sickness outbreaks in this school. The education is top quality and the school does not bother parents with fundraising at all. Teacher comforts kids when necessary. As any parent will know,it is when we walk away that the kids calm down and settle for the school day. Parent are allowed to talk to the teacher anytime,it is so not military! the kids all love the teacher.I highly recommend this school for anyone who is interested in good education and a loving environment. Go and check it out for yourselves. My children have moved on to other schools and are doing very well.
I had to pull my son from this school after just a few weeks because he had become so terrified and was beyond hysterical to go to school. The teacher does not welcome parental involvement and even when my son was 'transitioning', did not want the parent to bring the child inside the school, but to leave the screaming child and walk away. They do not believe in any physical comforting, even for the youngest of children (3yrs old), but instead direct them to sit down until they are calm. It is a very closed door policy. I think young children need more warmth, less military barking. I recommend people to avoid this particular school.
