Our oldest was almost five years old (summer birthday), and we started to realize we weren't comfortable about sending him off to Kindergarten the next fall. He seemed very 'young' -- behaviorally, socially, and academically. Then we discovered Tolland Cooperative Preschool's new program for 5-year-olds, and it turned out to be a great alternative for him -- a year of exploration and development (social and academic) under the guidance of a skillful and creative teacher. We were very happy with this school, and are enrolling our younger children here also (the preschool has a long-established program for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds). It is a co-op, so parents have an obligation/opportunity to help out in the classroom every so often.
