Norwalk CC Child Development Lab

I love this school, my daughter has attended it for 2 years. I think it may not be as 'academically demanding' as some people want in a school, but that is exactly what I liked about it. It is the perfect balance of being structured but relaxed. Creativity is fostered, and not stifled- never will the children be given anything to 'color in'! The children learn invaluable social skills and independence. It is a play-based/child-led curriculum. They design the curriculum according to the kids growing interest each week. Every two weeks a new theme is introduced and the kids dive into it. For instance, if the kids start expressing interest in ice-cream, they will learn all about it, from the cow to the store. They will make their own ice-cream, create an ice-cream shoppe in the dramatic play area, get a visit form an ice-cream truck, and work on a big project to make their own ice-cream truck. The teachers encourage the children to think creatively, and make the children feel valued. They listen to the kids, and really get to know them. The class has two main teachers and there are always two assistant teachers from the college, making the ratio unmatched! Playground is fabulous too!

It's only the second week but my 3 year old twin boys love going to school here! The teachers and staff are friendly and the rooms are inviting and stimulating. The kids get a lot of time outdoors, which my boys love.
