Our daughter has been going to NECDS since she was 8 weeks old and we couldn't be happier with the care she gets during the day. All the people we meet and talk to are happy and seem genuinely excited to be there and spend time with the children. I would recommend this daycare to anyone, and would challenge any negative reviews.
My children have been attending NECDS for the past 4 years. It has been an amazing experience for my family. My daughters are part a strong community at this school. All of the teachers are nuturing and warm, yet ensure a structured day with creative lesson plans. The facilities are well maintained, and consistently improved upon. There are a number of events that are family centric. My children have thrived here and I would recommend this school to anyone.
My daughter attended NECDS from 4 months and stayed until she went to Kindergarten. My son has been at NECDS for 18 months. This is a terrific school. Contrary to other reviews here, I think the leadership is fantastic and is very flexible. There are regular parent-teacher conferences, social events and all of my specific requests have always been accomodated. The school is always clean, the playgrounds are AMAZING - kids get to spend so much time outside in the summer because of the investment NECDS makes to outdoor grounds (unusual for schools). But what sets NECDS apart from all of the other schools is the TEACHERS. I trust each teacher with my children's lives and well-being. My kids are happy, healthy, smart children and so much of that is due to NECDS. The teachers are patient and kind - but offer solid structure.
I have 2 children at the school and could not be happier. Administrators and teachers are very responsive and caring. My wife and I tend to be very picky and are extremely pleased with this facility after transfering our children from another 'high end' school. When considering schools do your family a favor and at least receive a tour of this school.
NECDS lost their certification, so they are no longer part of NAEYC - National Association for the Education of Young Children. The management is horrible and very inflexible...they only like to do things their way. Management is rude to the teachers! They have no teaching consultant working with the school.
This facility is spacious and has a great room layout. The teachers' ratio is excellent. Lots of fun events for the kids and arts/crafts. However, there is no flexibility in regards to parents/children's needs. You have to follow their schedule! Improvement recommendation: work more with the parents and do not push kids to achieve milestones that they are not ready for it.
When we moved to CT we enrolled our older son in NECDS. We were happy with the teachers but found the leadership at that time somewat oppressive (strange rules for pickup, medications etc.). With the new leadership that started about 3 years ago things have become much more flexible and pleasant. The teachers are very caring and the curriculum is wonderful. Our second son has been in NECDS since he was 10 weeks old and has been very happy there. So we as parents have been very happy as well!
awful leadershi and no opportunities for parent involvement!!
