I Wish I had better things to say about this school. Some teachers/classrooms seem really with it - lots of field trips, engaging lessons, great communication. That has not been the case for us. We have struggled to stay in communication with the director and the teacher. It just seems likes there's way too many kids. I wish there had been more individual attention. It feels like glorified babysitting. Overall very disappointed and it feels like a wasted year.
Sorry to say we have found poor communication, lack of engagement with both children and parents, and less than anything fun or interesting in terms of academics. Teachers rarely or do not at all engage children or parents during drop-off or pick up. Teachers are always clustered together talking to one another rather than engaging or literally even watching the children. There appears to be little consistency between rooms of the same level - one class does much more than the other - and I know about other pre-k programs where some children are reading by the end of the year and nearly all know the sounds of letter combos like sh and th . I don t believe my child s class has even gotten through the alphabet and the year is about over. From what I can tell, all they do is coloring pages and have stamped their hands and feet in paint a few times. I feel a bit badly writing this but this program is glorified babysitting. For the cost, there are other programs that are much more enriching and actually follow Early Learning standards for engagement and learning.
This school is just what we were looking for - a loveing caring environment. It is not just a school it is a community. If you are looking for an eduational and religious environment for your child then this school is for you!
The most wonderful transition from at-home child care to a school setting. We couldn't have been happier. Ms. Dawn, Ms. Kelly, Ms. Tracee were all amazing, as were the rest that we didn't get to know as well. It was a loving environment that focused on being kind and learning the fundamentals. It was fun to watch our child excel and grow. I would highly recommend the ELC at MPB to my friends and family.
