I am a parent of a child that has attended this school since age 2. It is truly remarkable how she has developed in this environment. Excellent teachers, well planned curriculum and a beautiful environment. Can't wait to send my other children to this school when they come of age!
We have enrolled our son in this fine school. At first glance, this school appears very large. But, after a tour with the head mistress, you will find that there are many separate classrooms which include certified Montessori instructors within each class. My son's classroom has three instructors with under thirty children. There exists a program that balances play outdoors, circle time, snacks/lunch and Montessori materials in half-day or full-day programs. The instructors in his class are genuine, passionate about embracing and applying the Montessori method of learning, and show great care towards the children. There are families of many, many different cultures that can share their heritage with the school at the annual cultural event. The school is very secure and safe. My son has nothing but positive things to say about his teachers and classmates. His learning continues to astound us. We are very pleased with his experience.
Springfield built a new school in October of 2005.It has 2 toddler, 5 pre-k and one kindergarden classroom. The school offers a mixture of montessori education and extracurricular activities including spanish, french and music. Overall the school is very good, with a large play yard. The cultural fair held every year in May is exceptional. Almost all of the teachers are AMS certified. Each classroom is unique in appearance and degree of teaching experience. My daughter is a pre-k student and has had an extremely educational year. She is doing 1st grade level work and is very happy. The school is not a traditional montessori school because 6 year olds are grouped together into the coveted kindergarden classroom. The pre-k classes are max.24 1:12 ratio and start at age 2.9-5. I wish there was more parent involvemnt. The children do go on fieldtrips. Advise visiting more than one classroom.
Springfield Montessori is a great school and has great teachers. My Daughter is in this school from 2 years. When I leave my daughter in the school I am a happy Mom! No worried they take care of my daughter very well!
Positives: -Supportive staff -Ethnically diverse and respectful parent/students -Good communication with parents Negative - Not enough structure if your kid is a bit over-achiever/hyper - Not enough learning of anything - more like a play/hang-out for pre-K - Quite expensive and long waits to get in
Study Spanish and French. Gardening. Great manipulatives.
Great school, caring teachers, supportive environment.
