I worked as a student staff member at the Children's Center for 4 years while attending Cal Poly. I can attest that the quality of the program is unmatched. I am currently pursing a graduate degree in school psychology as a result of the experience I had at ASI. The staff are all extraordinarily well-trained, intelligent, loving and warm individuals who promote social-emotional development as well as academic growth. The respect for each child's own interest and personality is respected, while at the same time they are challenged to grow and try new or difficult things. My only concern is that a child who has special needs (such as autism, or other developmental disorders) may not find enough structure in a typical ASI day. The center is more geared for typical, independent and self-motivated children who do not require exceptional supports. However this is based upon my experience over 3 years ago, and it is possible that they have made some changes in this regard. Bottom line, if you are able to get your child into ASI then count your blessings, because you will not find a better daycare/preschool.
