My kids transferred to SFPM last year, and the teachers provided such encouragement and support. Within a few days, my girls were excited to learn and easily transitioned from a Catholic education into the enriching and nurturing school environment at SFPM. My daughters love to learn and create their own research projects at home as well as participate in the strong music and dance programs at the school. Their interests continue to expand and the teaching staff support and encourage academic success and lifelong learning. I am thrilled to be at SFPM and wonder at the wonderful opportunity to attend a Public Montessori School in San Francisco.
General speaking on this and other sites, many reviewers that give a score of 5, that are significantly unsubstantiated, are given by key stakeholders within the organization. The school is now on it's 4th principal in 3 years. The school, ever since moving to it's new location has been very troubled. There has been conflict within the organization amongst teachers, administration and zealous parents, which has had moments of extreme eruption. There was promise that things were turning around in 2011-12, but hopes were dashed when the principal for that year left the volatile environment. Things have since deteriorated to the point of having opposing parent factions and a declining morale amongst teachers and parents alike. If you are interested in perusing Montessori education and attend a tour, I urge you to research what you want for your child very well. Create a list of 20 (or more) questions to ask the tour guide and/or principal. Please visit other schools and ask the same or related questions. And then make certain to ask parents that are not giving tours the same questions. We loved the concept but this school did not deliver to our expectations.
This school is a real gem with great students, great families and great staff. Very diverse. My son really loves it.
This is an awesome pre-school. The Montessori program is such a great fit for our 4-year old boy and 3-year old girl. It appears that 'good' families that actively support learning outside of the classroom have 'found' this school. We are excited to have our kids move from pre-K to the Montessori elementary. I rate this school a 9 out of 10.
As far as I am concerned, I rate this school 8 out of 10. All the staff has been very good with my child and my family. It is a very nice community that we had the chance to meet. The teachers are great, especially the one from grade K. After few (2) months my child new how to read and write.
