Friends of Potrero Hill Nursery

Our son has thrived at the school for a year and a half. We are very happy with the school: the loving teachers and community. We cannot believe how harmoniously our son plays with other children from the school -- at home (where we can compare it with how he plays with other kids). The kids immediately start in with imaginative play and can continue for some time-- and with no conflict. Also, It is amazing to me and members of our extended family that our son can play with very little: string, rocks, wood, blocks for long periods of time. We attribute this mainly to what he does at school. It is a great school that attends first to the needs of children. We highly recommend this school.

Our daughter has truly flourished at Friends of Potrero Hill. An amazing program led by amazing teachers (especially Monica). All of the kids are so sweet with each other, and the school fosters creativity and a sense of magic and wonder, which is truly rare. Our daughter was initially quite shy, and her experience here has instilled confidence and brought her out of her shell. Best preschool ever.

We love Friends of Potrero Hill Nursery School! It's a school that genuinely puts children first and rather than telling, it feels like they invite them to do things. Our son's thrived there and has learned how to get on with other children beautifully, his whole nature has taken on a gentleness that we didn't notice before.

Our daughter receives so much love and care from her teachers at FOPH. She and her small cluster of schoolmates spend their time deeply immersed in imaginative play with one another, they are guided daily through seasonal song and stories, and they are given every opportunity to enjoy nature-- sunshine on the hillside, rain walks in the neighborhood. It gives me great comfort to know that my daughter is in a safe, loving place where she is respected and known.

this is a Waldorf-inspired small, independent preschool. teachers are extremely nurturing and warm.
