Roseville Community Pre-School5

My daughters LOVED this preschool. It is a kid's paradise and the definition of play-based preschool. So many parents are pushing their 3 and 4 year olds to be academically "ready" for kindergarten. They forget that kids learn by social interaction with their peers....not by dittos and flashcards. People are more likely to be fired for their inability to work with others than their skill level. Skills can be taught, functioning socially is the basic foundation for life long learning.
The Roseville Community Preschool is a place where children are valued. My husband attended many years ago and now my daughter is in her second year. The most amazing teachers who manage to connect one on one with each child every day. The teachers, staff and director Bev Bos spend many hours of hard work to create a child centered environment. The kids can choose to dig in the sand, swing, and paint, ride a bike, run, or just curl up with a parent and read. Actually the possibilities seem endless. Kids are given a voice and that voice is honored. I can t imagine a better place for my child.
There's a book about the best schools in the country and this is the first school listed in the preschool section! It is amazing! Its a non profit co-op founded by Bev Bos (who is well recognized in child development) and you will not find a better school for your children. Teachers come from all over the country to see this school so they can get ideas of how to work with kids better. The staff is so wonderful and you will become a better parent from working there and attending the meetings each month. I have been there with my kids for almost three years now and would not consider another school. The kids can attend from just under three until they are six. This place is better than Disneyland for kids and is ideal for learning at the same time. Not the place for a controlling parent though!
This school incorporates and writes the book on how children truly learn. I find myself when I am there wishing I had gone there as a child. Children learn through play, through experience, and the environment there gives my child experiences that I could not even give him. They have a zip line, a mountain of sand and hoses, a tree house, and endless amounts of amazing materials for the children to create true art. Children learn engineering, art, mathematics, language and story telling, they learn how to use their voice, and that their voice matthers. They learn how to work together, and how to take their own quiet time. They learn life lessons at this preschool, that I wish most adults knew, and ones I have to remind myself of everyday. This school truly sets up children to be the creaters, doers, and thinkers of tommorrow.
