Our child went to Aria for one year, and then we pulled our child out. We found out things that were going on that we felt were terrible for our child. They were not allowed to talk at lunch, at snack time they only could have one apple slice and when our child asked for another was told You get what you get. One day I dropped our child off crying and the teacher told our child to stand in a corner and cry it out while the rest of the class was on the carpet and the teacher was reading a story. So there our child was in the corner hold a lunch box crying while the teacher sat there oblivious to the needs of our child. Our child was told not to play with some kids, instead of teach our child HOW to play with kids. Our child was yelled at, so much so that our child when at home and did something wrong, retreated emotionally and was unable to express herself. Even today I hear of things they did there to our child and am ashamed I put our child through that. I am not the only one. Other parents have told me stories too. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL.
I've spent quite a bit of time at Aria Montessori as a substitute teacher. I have worked at both a small, non-profit Montessori and a large public charter Montessori school. Aria is one of the best schools I have ever seen. The teachers were warm and knowledgeable. The support staff was large enough and organized enough to allow the teachers the freedom to work with the children without needing to distract themselves with other responsibilities. The director and owner were on-site and very involved with the children. The facility is beautiful (an old bungalow in a beautiful part of Pasadena) and perfectly suited for a Montessori environment. I would both work there or send my children there without reservation! Highly recommended!
