Amazing teachers and a wonderful program. My son started with OPNS in June of 2011 and I must say it has been the best thing for him. Everyone at this school is on the same page which is such a nice change from other preschools we had been to over the last 3 years. This school puts your child's needs in front of their financial gain and that is a wonderful thing for a parent who wants the best for their child during the most important learning years. The teachers, assistants and directors all take great pride in working with the students. They are wonderful and caring, educated and stern with the kids. Their philosophy on teaching, learning and growing is amazing. I would highly recommend this preschool.
Great teachers, very well trained, nurturing, and supportive of parents and children.
Once you step into the classrooms at Oak Park Neighborhood School you know that this preschool is second to none. The Director, teachers, and Atelitrista (art teacher) and parents provide a strong sense of community. The Reggio-Emilia approach has been reknowned by the world for years and it is unbelievable that so few preschools in this area have caught on to this superb learning philosophy. It nurtures children's natural sense of wonder and challenges them make connections within their environment. I would highly recommend this program as would my child who never wants to leave!
My daughter attended the Oak Park Neighborhood School and I found it to be a warm, nurturing and wonderful environment. The teachers are caring and enthusiastic. The Art curriculum was exceptional and not the cookie cutter sameness of other preschool programs where they're afraid of getting messy. An example were the fish prints done with real (dead) fish. The curriculum is decidedly developmental, which I loved. My daughter is now in elementary school in the Oak Park School District which expects the kids to read and write in Kindergarten, ready or not. I will say the kids who attended more academic preschools were more prepared for Kindergarten. Once you get in real school you need to meet standards, no more of this developmentally appropriate stuff. The school is supposed to turn a profit for the Oak Park Dist. which makes it a bit pricey compared to the church based preschools.
