My son spent 2 1/2 years at this school, and now my 3 y/o daughter is loving it, too. The director is amazing with children, especially the youngest ones, and the other teachers are great, too. The families in this school are as diverse as you can imagine in all ways (ethnically, socioeconomically, education, professions...), so the community is rich with different perspectives on childhood. The focus is social/emotional development, and it's play based. There is a routine, but the play is fluid and child-led. Now that my oldest is in school with all of the structure that goes with it, I completely appreciate WPNS' philosophy of letting the kids take the play where they want it to go. Because it's a co-op, you are required to give a lot of time to the running of the school (reason for 4 instead of 5 star), but for me and my kids it's totally worth it.
My 2 1/2 year old loves the open play and understanding and attentive teachers. I enjoy having a community of parents around me. They have yoga and cooking for older kids and family field trips for everyone.
