Our family has been at this school for almost 4 years and we have 2 kids here. The new management company, Around The Korner, provides a wonderful and warm atmosphere for learning. The previous provider left in July 2012, so only the reviews after that date are relevant. They are a non-profit who always put the children's best interest first. Their warm, experienced teachers evaluate each child and offer activities that they would enjoy, beyond the classroom curriculum. My son loves writing words and numbers, and doesn't nap, so they wait until all other children are asleep and then he can practice writing, art or reading during nap time (yes, he sleeps 11 hours at night, so there is no deficit). My other child is a bit advanced for her age, and they let her join the older class. They truly do what is best for each child. For those parents who care about nutrition, their snacks are fresh fruit and protein-rich with whole grains. They do allow parents to bring in cupcakes for birthdays, but that is about all the sugar you will see. Call and talk to the Director or Assistant Director, and ask for a tour. This is a school for families who care about their children.
My child has been at this facility for over 3 years and the staff has been nothing but warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this facility to any interested party if your child care needs are in the down town LA area.
I had my child in this school for three months. She cried every day she came. After witnessing two infants crying, without any teacher paying attention, I understood why. No one at the school made my child feel welcomed or a part of a community. The teachers were nice, but one was very rigid in enforcing the schedule. I brought my child 5 minutes late for lunch (after a 2 hour doctor appointment) and was told she couldn't eat with the other kids, which, again, sent a message my child wasn't welcome. The center is horribly disorganized--I never received a single direction on center policies unless I asked. I gave appropriate notice for withdrawal and was told the fee would be prorated (my child left mid-week). On her last day, I had to pay for the whole week, enforcing my perception the center has poor leadership, poor communication, poor values.
This is a well operated and exceptionally programed day care.
