We knew we'd found the right place for our family soon after visiting LFNS for the first time. We'd toured other preschools, but were won over by the teaching staff, the location, the well-cared for facilities, and the other co-op families. Did I mention how much fun our son has every day? He just loves LFNS. His art projects, movement/dance play, the outdoor playground, reading time, field trips, the non-competitive sports, the healthy snacks! The play-based learning is fantastic and the families are a truly diverse group. My son is learning, flourishing and tapping into his creativity as well as developing socialization skills. That LFNS is a more affordable option than some of the other schools in our area is a bonus. I think we're most impressed with the care and consideration each family and staff member gives to the community as a whole. To attend a co-op, parents do have to be willing/able to be generous with their time. In return you gain the support of a professional teaching staff and a community of enthusiastic volunteer parents. As a working parent, I can attest this is no small thing. LFNS just feels like home to us.

My son is currently in his 2nd year at LFNS. He loves it, and I love it too! It has a lovely, diverse group of kids and volunteer parents. Because it is a co-op, it is very affordable, plus it gives us a chance to really get to know the other families. As a family you do need to be able to dedicate at least 20 hours a month to volunteering at the school, but it is rewarding to become a part of your child's education. There is some fundraising too, but it is a great way to have a high quality school experience without breaking the bank. Not to mention that the teachers are great. They all have a lot of experience and are fun yet firm, so that all of the kids understand the school rules. They focus a lot on children learning to do things for themselves and speak for themselves. My son has really come out of his shell at LFNS.

Both of my children attended preschool here for 3 years. As others have mentioned, the adult-child ratio is amazing, the teachers and director are dedicated, caring and quite loved by all the children. If you are looking for a play-based program that is heavily art-focused, with TONS of outside play time and the chance to make friends with other like-minded parents, this is the place for you and your child. Ms. Marion strikes the perfect balance between loving and gentle and no-nonsense. She expects a lot from the children (rightly so, they are capable of so much more than many adults think they are), and the parents. My children learned how to share, resolve conflicts, have positive self-esteem and to respect others. You should expect to be highly involved and eager to be so, as this is a co-op and the parents engage actively in the teaching and learning. I really cannot think of a better place to have begun my children's educational journey. And, I made many life-long friends myself. Call and take a tour, see for yourself.

This is how pre-school (& frankly Kindergarten) should be - happy, fun, creative. Very dedicated teachers & parents. The ratio is amazing when you have 2-3 teachers + at least 6 focused parents working with about 20 kids. The kids have so much fun while doing art & physical activities. I love how the kids eat healthy snacks family style (prepared by the parents, no sugar here). "Please pass the peas", "Thank you". The children clean up after eating, playing etc. The teachers & parents work as a team.

I have a second child at LFNS. My older one is in 1st grade now, and he totally loved going to school every day. He learned how to clean up, eat veggies, share, take turns, sit and listen quietly, raising hands to speak, and so much more! My second one used to hit, throw sand, and really miss me when I left, but he's outgrown that now and looks forward to going to school. As for myself, I've learned parenting skills from the teachers and made some really good friends with like-minded fellow parents.

This school is a parent run coop which offers a unique oportunity for parents to have an active role in the education of their pre-schooler. The children/teacher/adult ratio is 1:4. Our daughter blossemed there, intellectually and socially. Their playful approach made every day at school a fun learning experience, for her as well as for her parents.
