Both of my children attended preschool here for 3 years. As others have mentioned, the adult-child ratio is amazing, the teachers and director are dedicated, caring and quite loved by all the children. If you are looking for a play-based program that is heavily art-focused, with TONS of outside play time and the chance to make friends with other like-minded parents, this is the place for you and your child. Ms. Marion strikes the perfect balance between loving and gentle and no-nonsense. She expects a lot from the children (rightly so, they are capable of so much more than many adults think they are), and the parents. My children learned how to share, resolve conflicts, have positive self-esteem and to respect others. You should expect to be highly involved and eager to be so, as this is a co-op and the parents engage actively in the teaching and learning. I really cannot think of a better place to have begun my children's educational journey. And, I made many life-long friends myself. Call and take a tour, see for yourself.
This is how pre-school (& frankly Kindergarten) should be - happy, fun, creative. Very dedicated teachers & parents. The ratio is amazing when you have 2-3 teachers + at least 6 focused parents working with about 20 kids. The kids have so much fun while doing art & physical activities. I love how the kids eat healthy snacks family style (prepared by the parents, no sugar here). "Please pass the peas", "Thank you". The children clean up after eating, playing etc. The teachers & parents work as a team.
I have a second child at LFNS. My older one is in 1st grade now, and he totally loved going to school every day. He learned how to clean up, eat veggies, share, take turns, sit and listen quietly, raising hands to speak, and so much more! My second one used to hit, throw sand, and really miss me when I left, but he's outgrown that now and looks forward to going to school. As for myself, I've learned parenting skills from the teachers and made some really good friends with like-minded fellow parents.
This school is a parent run coop which offers a unique oportunity for parents to have an active role in the education of their pre-schooler. The children/teacher/adult ratio is 1:4. Our daughter blossemed there, intellectually and socially. Their playful approach made every day at school a fun learning experience, for her as well as for her parents.
