My son was not happy at this school. He did not get enough attention in the toddler house. A very good teacher left the school one week after my son joined she was replaced by another teacher who did not communicate well with parents. The teacher's aide had her son in the same class and I am not comfortable with that, I cannot believe there is no favoritism for a teacher's son. My son did not eat at all one day and they were ok with it, I would like the teachers to make some effort and lot let a child starve the whole day. The director Janelle was not very happy when we told her we had to pull our son out of the school. There are no refunds here so we decided to pay weekly and I am glad we did so, as we pulled him out after 8 days. Stay away from this place, there are better options.

I'm overall pleased with CWK, however more feed back from the teachers would be great.

I love CWK. I feel my child is thriving in the toddler house. Best decision I made so far regarding his academic future.

The director, Janelle, is very receptive and easy to talk to. The class is small, between 4 and 10 kids over the time we've been there. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the teacher, Alyssa. She is wonderful with the kids and they love her. She is very attentive, engaging and caring. The school has an academic approach (even for toddlers) so they follow a routine part of which includes a learning time. The cons are that the house doesn't have central air and it does get pretty warm on hot days. The outdoor area seems pretty good for the toddlers (they recently put down a rubber mat to make it safer for falls). In the 9 months at CWK they've worked with the toddlers on the alphabet, talked about animals, counting, shapes, colors, holidays and traffic signals. He learned his body parts from songs during circle time, has ate more vegetables and foods than at home, learned to follow directions and developed a love for reading. He has explored the arts with his senses - learning to finger paint, color and make crafts. It's been amazing to see how our son has grown in the last nine months. No doubt he is thriving because of CWK and the wonderful teachers there.

I didn t like CWK because there was not enough emphasis on teachers having a nurturing attitude towards the children. There was a lot of yelling at kids during lessons and I was uncomfortable with that. Maybe some people like to have teachers yelling at their children but I most certainly do not. Furthermore, the communication was very poor. Communication between parents and the school are crucial for working families who have to drop off kids early and pick them up late. It seemed as if you could only find out what was going on if you, as a parent, were physically there to ask the teaching staff questions, but the staff and managers were not there during extended care hours. Only the aides were there and they would refer you to the teachers if you had questions. Written notes and voice mail messages to CWK were useless and went unanswered. The bathrooms were usually not clean and did not have soap for the kids to wash their hands. When I would pick up my kids, they were playing outside, and the aids were always sitting together talking and not watching the kids. I was very disappointed with CWK and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Do your research. This school is as they state 'an Academic Program'. They have had great success taking very young children and teaching them language and math skills far beyond their years. They do not, however, provide an environment that encourages children to interact with their peers. Very little structured play, very little music or other activities that encourage social development. Does your child NEED to be able to do addition and subtraction before Kindergarten?

I really disappointed with the schools, my child was not happy there. They dont care about her accomplishment and poor communication. She was very frustrated and didnt get well attention.

I have 2 children attending CWK. I think academically the school excels. They seem a bit light on the 'touch feely' that pre-schoolers sometimes need but overall appear to care for the children. The only negative experiences for me have been some issues with poor communication .

I absolutely disagree with the October 13th review. My son has excelled so much since starting a year ago, and he's not easy to deal with, but they've done such a wonderful job with him. They figured out how he works academically, and work with him to bring out his best. He surprises me every day with the things he learns. I love the staff (they're like family), and my son loves his school and adores his teachers.

I am sorry that this parent or child did not have pleasant experience at CWK which leads me to believe there as some underlying issues that are not mentioned in this review. I have one child who has graduated from this school, another attending and one one the way in. I can honestly say that my children have been well cared for both emotionally and academically at CWK. All of my children are different each child's need have been met as an individual and never compared. Academically they have far surpassed their peers and socially my 1st grader had no problem adjusting to a new school environment and friends where he did not know anyone. My opinion is that CWK is family and treats there students as family and therefore your children flourish not only academically, but socially and emotionally.

My child is a student @ C.W.K. I must say that she has really changed in the last two months. She knows how to add & substract. She's excited every morning when she wakes up. She talks non-stop about her Teacher and the Staff. I'm very impressed with C.W.K. If you wan't excellence and a warm caring enviroment for your child. You need to check out C.W.K.

I would like to commend CWK for the work they do and the time they spend with the children. I have put 4 children through that school and all of them come out above their peers. Because I have been their since the beginning I have seen the transitions and they have handled all of them with great success. Keep the good job up CWK teachers!!

California Wiz Kids Children's Academy is a family owned and operated private school offering preschool and kindergarten programs and a wide array of enrichment classes since 2000. CWK has been very successful in sending it's young students on to their next educational challenges with the knowledge and confidence gained by preparation and practice tempered with encouragement and kindness.

California Wiz Kids is the best thing to ever happen to my son. I highly recommend this school to everyone. So much so that my cousin enrolled her son there as well. The teachers are patient, caring and very attentive to the needs of each individual child. My son isn't even of school age yet (he will be 4 next month and currently in Pre-K) and is well into math (adition and subtraction), spelling 4 leter words and the beginnings of reading. He came home just weeks after starting at CWK (at just 2 and 1/2 years old) already knowing how to spell his name, identifying numbers and letters, and singing entire songs by memory. I cannot thank CWK enough for their warm and caring hearts and the valuable education that they provide which my son will carry for a life time! We love you CWK!

It was a hard decission to switch my preschooler to another school, but I'm so happy I did! She is now getting the exposure to letters and numbers that she wasn't getting before! In addition, the teacher/student ratio to fantastic! The owners of the school are very involved and are always open to comments.

My daughter has attended CWK for 2 in a half months. She is 2 1/2 yrs. old. and is coloring in the lines, counting to 20, able to identify numerals 1 - 10, unerstands quantity, able to spell her first name and trace it beautifully, and has learned many new songs. I do work with my daughter but CWK also deserves alot of credit. The teachers are patient, and have a love for children. My daughter talks about her teachers all day long. CWK is the most diverse school you will ever have the pleasure of sending your child to. Black, White, Latino, Asian, and Indian people to name a few. Definitely a gem

I do not agree with the Oct. 13 review. My daughter has been attending California Wiz Kids for two years and I personally love the school. This is a small school with a very family feel. My daughter is three years old and she already knows how to write her name, has a growing vocabulary, knows addition and subtraction. They offer enrichment classes this year and she's taking Spanish and gymnastics. And unlike other places, they really do have a multi-cultural student population.
