School head Linda won't admit it but Beverly Hills Montessori is *not* a Montessori school and has no Montessori qualified teachers or equipment. Linda promised a roomful of parents in 2004-5 that she'd bought an entire Montessori school's gear and was arranging shipment, but this was false and she refused to discuss it later, a promise heard by 20+ parents. She over-billed consistently, claiming innocent mistakes, though these were always in the school's favor. She also habitually yelled at small children as they came and left the school, and reacted angrily when asked not to do this because it scared the tiny kids. Is this arrogance? Oh boy! She also fired some of her best teachers to take public school students, making BHMS into nothing more than day care, but still charging huge premium tuition to parents expecting a Montessori experience. Parents, you can do better - stay away from BHMS..
I pulled my daughter out of public school and put her here and I am very satisfied with her progress. The school is very nice and academic oriented. I love Linda and every teachers there. It is a small school but it has everything I need.
My child attended the school in 06. He only attended here for the 3 months before summer break. In that short time he learned how to sit still, how to participate in circle time appropriately, addition, and writing skills. I did not like the way they communicated with me as a parent nor did I like the way the lead teacher in my son's class spoke of his failures that day, every day, to me during pick up time and in front of my child. I had to ask her directly to include some positives in the daily discussions. Academically I found the school great ... but I did not feel it supported my child socially or emotionally.
Nice little local school, intuitive and interactive teachers, small class sizes, friendly and safe environment. My child loves it. Gave my child the boost she needed for socialization, potty training and interaction. She's learning her alphabet, numbers, days of the week and seems excited to go each day. Cute little field trips too!
Wonderful value for LAUP program. My child found it easy to adapt and is ready to enter kindergarten.
I like that my daughter choose what activity she would like to be onvolved in after the required academic morning session. The art session combines shapes with vivid colors, balancing academics with arts. Of course, my daughter thins is just art, but it is more than that.
My daughter loves it there!
This school was a Great Start! When my daughter moved on to UES her teacher commented on what a great foundation for learning. We felt as if the school and staff were a nuturing extended family and they were always available.
I believe this school to be a terrific introduction to education. The staff is excellent, the hours are good for working parents, and there is a wondeful sense of community. The programs presented by the children were creative and they opened my child's eyes to a method of learning that I wish he could have continued throughout his elementary school years.
