I agree with many parents' comments on this school. The priority of the school is wrong. It's very money oriented. I have to pull my son out of the school because I don't think my son will be ready for kindergarden with their programs. Now I understand why there are less and less parents sending their kids to this school that use to have a wait list.

To me, a mother of three brilliant children experiencing three different private pre-schools in the bay area and the valley, I can make a fair comparison among the private ones. Want to know what's good about TLC -- the location only, but that's not the reason of sending my son to the school!!! By reading the philosophy listed by the school, I don't find my youngest son has made any progress in cognitive, social and creative development over the year. Talking about curriculum listed by the school, my son was never provided the experiences in computer skills, intro to writing, reading readiness or science exploration at TLC!! Compared to my two older kids educated in other two private pre-schools with much less tuition, my youngest son was not prepared with enough education for kindergarten!!!!!!!!

My son attended Tassajara Learning Center. The teachers are loving, caring and kind. The classrooms are clean, bright and inviting. The curriculum is just the right amount of free play, structured time and teacher directed activities. This school has the best playground we have ever seen at a preschool (and I have seen alot with all the moving my family has done). I feel that no other preschool around here can even compete with the building, the staff or their early childhood philosophies. TLC is in a league of its own!

The structure of this school lends itself to disaster. The school caters to families who need a flexible schedule. Therefore, there are different kids there each day and some kids are there all day while others attend only the morning or afternoon. Although the kids who attend in only the afternoon are supposed to receive the same instruction and curriculum as the morning/all day kids, this simply is not the case. The school is extremely pricey for the level of enrichment and education that the kids are getting. The teachers are very sweet and the facility is beautiful... but I just don't feel that that justifies the cost. Overall, I think the issues with the school stem from the Directors/Owners. I think the business of making money is the priority of the school, instead of the academic and social enrichment of the individual students at the school.

The schedule is very a-la-carte, so there is a lot of pick-up, drop-off, and pretty much different mix of students every day. I don't even know if the teachers know all the children well enough to provide adequate care and coaching. Tuition is high and a lot of holidays, teachers' days.... Directors are very friendly but also too business- (and money) oriented. Good news is, school is clean; so it is a good school if cleanliness is the only thing you are looking for.

TLC is a day care facility. My son attended TLC last year in toddler class. It is a pretty school with caring teachers. However, we moved on to a different school for pre-K. Even they emphasize 1:8 ratio, they take lot of kids per room as kids come in very different schedule. Teachers deal with different set of kids and busy with diaper change. Main staffs leave at noon and the pm kids are then combined. The rooms are clean, but with basic toys/books. Tuition is high and school closes based on school district calendar. If you are on tight budget, you can find a nice day care with half of the cost. If you can afford it, explore around and there are schools with solid curriculum, teaching materials that promote learning, sometimes foreign language/music/dancing classes may be included.

Bad News First: If there is a down side it would be cost, features and flexibility. No hot lunches, no drop offs, no schedule changes as they are booked. Expect to take a lot of days off of work as teacher work days and vacation days are plenty. You will also pay for those days whether your child attends or not. Very Good News: My child has been a student of this school from age two to age five. It has always been a clean, safe environment with great staff. My child's love of books went through the roof and the owners and staff do a great job with the kids. My child spent the first week crying because I left, but after that and since they never want to leave. Your child will be happy, your pocket book wont be.

Love this school! My 3 yr old just started here at the beginning of September! The owner and staff, teachers are all great and have wonderful cheery attitudes. The facility is by far the best I've seen around here, and is equipped with new everything and a really large playground for the kids!
