So far my experience has been nothing but a positive one from Casa Montessori de Carlsbad. My daughter was new to the school this spring and she was welcomed with open arms by a very dedicated and qualified staff. She has already shown great progress towards her development in reading and comes home everyday with new and exciting things that she has learned. As a parent I could not be happier with my decision of sending my daughter to this school.
My experience has been that this is a terrific school with a great staff dedicated to providing a quality Montessori education. The students thrive in the peaceful, respectful, and happy environment. My son loved his teacher in primary 1 and is looking forward next year in the primary 2 classroom.
Our daughter is new to Casa and is thriving. I have had the opportunity to talk to the director and the three primary teachers about the school and the issues surrounding the change of ownership last year. Clearly, this school has undergone a lot of change in the past year and there are some parents who were very unhappy with the changes made and who have a poor opinion of the director. However, as a new family coming in, our experience with this school has been great. The teachers are very kind and we love the personal, small school environment. The director was also very open and honest in discussing the situation regarding some of the parents at the school. My feeling is that the priority should be the well-being, education, and happiness of the children attending the school. The issues between some parents and the director have no place in my decision making about enrolling my daughter in this school.
My daughter is new to Casa Montessori and she loves her new school. It is a very loving and nuturing environment.
It is with great sadness that I can only give this once 5 star school, 1 star today. . Under the new ownership, Casa has become very "business" oriented school with clearly no interest in parent involvement. The school was sold in July 2010 so be aware that reviews written prior to that date are directed to the previous owner and should NOT be included in your decision. I am still in disbelief that this is our reality and my heart is very heavy that the legacy has ended.
While I will not remove my child at this point in the school year, (as so many long-time families have done), due to my child's attachment to his friends and the school as a place he's known for years now, I can't and will not recommend this school for any family or child. There are no formal conference days. Nothing set up for parents to be involved what-so-ever. In fact, the new owner/administrator flatly refused to hand out a parent e-mail list for reasons only she knows. If you are looking for a warm and fuzzy, genuinely inviting place for your family, look elsewhere. The large signs all over the tiny school each month heavy-handedly reminding parents to pay their tuition immediately is a metaphor for how this school has changed. It is now a business...not a second home. Carlsbad needs better. This is not better.
We had a wonderful experience at Casa Montessori. Both of my children have attended the school. Not only did we experience a warm and loving staff and environment but, my childrens educational experience was beyond exceptional. They are both advanced well beyond their peers. I would "very highly" recommend Casa. There is no school that can match it especially since it's new ownership. The new owner has implemented so many great new idea's and programs which carry on the traditional Montessori experience.
I cannot in good conscience write a positive review for what used to be a sweet, successful and community oriented school. New ownership in August has led the school in a different direction. We have been a Casa family for over 3 years. Half of the long-time staff quit, (there are only 6 teachers total, so that was devastating), and while the new teachers are kind and proficient, the overall feeling of the school has changed dramatically. I used to gush about Casa to anyone who would listen. At this point, I wouldn't have too must to say that would be positive. How sad that such an amazing legacy in Carlsbad no longer is a welcoming and thriving place. I can only hope that the school finds it's way over the next couple of years so it can once again be a safe place to land in this tight-knit community.
Our three children have attended Casa. We are very pleased with the level of education they have received. They are exceeding their grade level and are challenged in their work. We love the staff at the school. They are very loving and nurturing. The teacher to student ratio is wonderful. Our children have gotten so much individual attention that they would never have received at a larger private school or public school. The academic program is very well rounded- arts, science, math, Spanish, reading, music, language and more. The students are hands on not just sitting in a class being lectured to. Our children enjoy learning and their desire to learn has increased. Our children are more than prepared to go to Elementary School. The parent involvement is very high. I recommend this school very highly- if you want the best for your child s education, this is the only choice.
This school is by far exceptional. My daughter has excelled due to the schools criteria and individual attention she received. She is now in 5th grade and ahead of most of her peers.
