We found the application and admission process to be very misleading and demoralizing. We were interested in enrolling our twins, who would have been 2 years, 10 months of age at the beginning of the school year, which we confirmed to be within their stated minimum age requirement. After accepting our application fee, we were granted a visit with our daughters, but within a few minutes it was made clear to us that we had no chance of being accepted, with our daughters' young age being the stated issue. One of the directors actually made a snide comment to the effect of "this isn't daycare." If they didn't want kids under 3, why did they waste our time and money? We felt that the process was unprofessional, and in the end were happy to find a preschool that welcomed our children.

CC is an amazing school. The staff are highly qualified and dedicated. My son has been at CC for 1.5 years and he loves it. The teachers have nurtured him and he is excited about learning. Each day, he comes home with information that amazes me - from facts about Martin Luther King, Jr. and Obama, to which whales have certain characteristics, to being able to write his name, etc. The school is diverse and the parents are involved. The school is structured, but the students all seem to thrive within the structure. The play area is great and the kids get plenty of outside time, as well as time to choose their own activities. You will not find a better preschool in Berkeley!
