Like a lot of moms, I wanted to be home with my little ones, but it didn’t work out that way. Through a beautiful twist of fate, we ended up adopting three little ones in less than two years, each with very different backgrounds. I worried about finding a school that would not only engage their minds, but appreciate their unique spirits and work with whatever their strengths and weaknesses turned out to be. KMPS has some of the best test scores in the state, so I knew they would have that piece covered! But what has been so amazing to me is that they have been able to engage each child, encourage their independence, and build on their unique strengths, interests and talents. All of my children are eager to learn, coming home with rhymes-letters-songs-numbers-manners-problem solving skills-you name it, and they are at ease and joyful. The teachers are very smart and clearly have a passion and commitment to the children. You can be involved as much or as little in the classroom as you like and in extracurricular activities like gardening and music. The best selling point is walking into a classroom and seeing the learning in motion. This is an absolutely extraordinary school. I had interviewed four prior to choosing KMPS, and definitely believe this was the right decision.
This school is amazing...the staff is GREAT with the children. The director is very personable and really takes time out to get to know each family individually and is willing to work with each parents needs. This makes me feel like I made the right choice for my child! Also the backyard has improved tremendously since the beginning of the school year!!! Great work!!!
As you drive up to Khalsa Montessori Primary school, you will be enchanted by the white house behind the fence. It is a wonderful place to send your child. Both my children went to the Primary school and have wonderful memories. The school is based on the teachings of Maria Montessori. I encourage every parent to do some research on the montessori way of teaching if you consider this school. You will not be disappointed. The teachers and administration are very involved with the children. They have a wonderful outside environment where the children can play and learn gardening. The classrooms are fasinating. There are shelves upon shelves of learning tools that the children are free to use. Both of my children went through the Primary program and have a deep level of understanding in language and math, more than I could ever have imagined. It is a great hidden gem in downtown Phoenix. As a preant you defintely need to see it.
